About the Workshop
Data centers for artificial intelligence and cloud computing are becoming some of the largest and fastest-growing electric loads on the grid. A single campus can request hundreds of megawatts, often on a schedule much shorter than the years it takes to build new generation and transmission. Utilities, grid operators, developers, and regulators in Texas and across the country now face a practical question: how to connect these loads reliably and affordably.
The workshop brings together engineers and researchers from utilities, grid operators, industry, national laboratories, and universities to share practical experience and discuss the planning, operations, and research questions that matter most.
Topics of Interest
- Data center grid interconnection and technical requirements
- Transmission and distribution planning for large loads
- Grid impacts and dynamic behavior of data centers
- Data center internal power architecture and energy management
- Data center flexibility, energy storage, and on-site energy resources
- Planning, reliability, and emerging practices for rapid load growth
Who Should Attend
The workshop is intended for engineers and planners at utilities and grid operators, data center developers and operators, researchers and students in power systems and computing, and policymakers working on large load integration.
